Sensex falls 100 pts, Nifty below 11,900 | Trade Nivesh

Markets opened in the negative territory on Thursday amid subdued global cues. 
In the opening deals, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading 130 points or 0.33 per cent lower at 39,627 while NSE's Nifty50 index was ruling 38 points or 0.32 per cent lower at 11,868.



In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 31 points lower at 14,892 and the S&P BSE SmallCap index was trading at 14,500 levels, down 47 points.

Sectorally, all the indices except financial services on NSE were trading in the red. FMCG and metal counters were the top losers. 

BUZZING STOCKS

Continuing their slide, shares of YES Bank slipped nearly 6 per cent to Rs 126 in the early trade on the BSE. 

Oil & Rupee

Oil prices tumbled to five-month low on rising US stockpiles. Brent crude futures were hovering around $60.01 in early trade.

The rupee closed 10 paise stronger at 69.35 per US dollar relative to Tuesday’s close of 69.45.

Global cues


Asian stocks stuttered on Thursday, dogged by concerns of a flattening global growth.

MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan ticked down 0.1 per cent, while Japan’s Nikkei lost 0.3 per cent.
