Trade Nivesh: Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have made a net investment of Rs 5,072 crore in the Indian capital market so far in October. Earlier in September, FPI had made a net investment of Rs 6,557.8 crore.
However, FPIs were net sellers in July and August. According to recent depository data, FPI made a net investment of Rs 4,970 crore in shares and Rs 102 crore in the bond market during October 1 to 18. Trade Nivesh
Thus, FPI's net investment in the domestic capital market stood at Rs 5,072 crore. Umco Mehta, head of research, Samco Securities, said, "The government's efforts to improve domestic demand by raising dearness allowance, reducing corporate tax, infusing capital in state-owned banks and through strategic disinvestment have changed the perception of FPI."
Arun Mantri, technical and derivatives analyst at Karvy Stock Broking, said investor sentiments have been strengthened by positive messages about Brexit and the US-China trade talks.
